About the grant

Bitcoin education is essential for a thriving open-source ecosystem. Our Education Grants support initiatives that train developers, fund research, and make Bitcoin knowledge more accessible; whether through developer programs, language translation, or research studies. By reducing barriers to learning, we empower more people in Africa and the Global South to engage with Bitcoin development.

Requirements

• The education initiative must be focused on Bitcoin development targeting open-source tools and technical education for software developers.

• The program must target software developers in Africa or the Global South, with clear outcomes tied to upskilling or onboarding them into Bitcoin open-source development.

• The program must be at least 8 weeks away from the application date to allow for proper review, feedback, and potential support.

• Applicants must demonstrate Proof Of Work; they should have experience running similar education programs, bootcamps, or workshops.

• We are currently not accepting applications from first-time educators or new programs with no track record.
